AI Hiring
Hiring GPU Infrastructure Specialists
Define the workload and operating environment before connecting with GPU infrastructure, cluster or AI platform expertise.

In this article
Start with the workload
Explain whether the environment supports experimentation, model training, inference or a mixture. Describe the scale you understand today, the constraints and what remains uncertain. A brief built only around a hardware brand can miss the networking, storage and operational experience required to make the environment useful.
Map the ownership boundaries
GPU infrastructure engineers, cluster engineers, HPC specialists and AI infrastructure architects can bring different strengths. Identify who selects and provisions resources, who operates the cluster and who helps users diagnose workload problems. Clarify whether the role is primarily infrastructure operation, architecture or performance investigation, and which neighbouring teams already exist.
Look beyond hardware familiarity
Ask the specialist to discuss a workload that did not perform as expected. How did they decide whether the issue related to compute, memory, data movement or application behaviour? What measurements informed the next step? Relevant experience includes working across boundaries and recognising when to involve another specialist, rather than assuming every problem requires more hardware.
Explore reliability and shared use
Discuss scheduling, access, capacity planning, maintenance and recovery in a shared environment. Ask how competing users were supported and how changes were introduced without unnecessary disruption. The details should fit your environment: an on-premises cluster, a managed cloud service and a small experimental setup may require different operating experience.
Make the resourcing requirement practical
Include the workload, hosting model, existing support, operational expectations and any on-call responsibilities in the brief. Separate must-have experience from preferences about particular tools. Theseus uses that context to engage specialists who understand the work and can contribute within your team.
Find relevant specialist expertise
Theseus is your lifetime Data & AI resourcing partner. We take time to understand your priorities, the people around the role and the experience your next appointment needs.
Explore the relevant roles
For each engagement, clarify the scope, duration, working arrangements, agreed services and client dependencies. Plan access and handover so the knowledge gained stays with your team. Theseus focuses on UK resourcing and considers European and international requirements individually.
